Job Description

Harry the Hirer is the biggest supplier of hired equipment for events, parties and exhibitions setting up marquees, exhibitions at Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup, Moto GP, Grand Prix, Australian Open Tennis, and International Boat Show etc.

You will work in a fast paced environment working within a team setting up or pulling down marquees, which includes manual handling of all framework, sides, flooring etc.
If you have a HR license/forklift license this is a bonus and hourly rate is higher, but you will be expected to still construct marquees.

You will need;
• White Card (Must have before interview – not negotiable however statement of attainments are acceptable)
• Police Check (You can have interview before police check, and have 2 weeks to complete if successful)
• Uniform – PPE is provided however steel cap boots must be at your own expense and must be worn at all times.
• To be physically fit (heavy manual lifting, is involved, generally 2 person lift)
• Able to work on your feet for extended periods
• Get to work on time at various sites across Melbourne
• Good work ethic, want to work within a team
• Able to work across Melbourne for example at Flemington, City, South Melbourne (no need to drive, as sites have public transport access)
• Generally rostered on to locations close to your home
• Must have and able to use a smart phone to download a shift app to respond to fortnightly shifts offered to you with start times and map.

Hours/pay rate;
• Hours are Monday to Friday can include weekends generally starting 7am to 4pm (overtime may be required if working on certain event deadlines)
• Basic hours are 76 per fortnight and can go up to 120 per fortnight depending on event
• Weekend only work is also available
• Wage starting at approx. $24-25 per hour flat rate
• The work at Harry’s is seasonal and is generally quieter during the winter months with little to no hours

Work Environment
• Good steady job for people that love physical work, and can clearly communicate with other team members.
• The worksites are very dynamic, fast and you will need to be able to get on and work within a team.
• Pre employment medicals and random drug and alcohol tests may be conducted
