If you are fit, have your own transport (a must), steel cap boots and a trades or labouring background and are planning to be around for 3 months or so, then its worth your while going around the labour hire contractors or employer's direct, introducing yourself and leaving a contact telephone number (mobile) on which they can call you. Sell yourself as being available and negotiable and don't be afraid of knocking on lots of doors.
